Shenhua Group, as one of the largest coal production enterprises in China, has long been committed to improving the efficiency and safety of its energy production. In 2006, in order to further enhance the power performance and safety guarantee of coal mining machinery, Shenhua Group decided to introduce 4 TAW8800-20/3250 high-voltage explosion-proof synchronous motors. These motors are mainly used to drive its key mining equipment, such as conveyor belts, hoists, etc.

As a senior engineer of Shenhua Group, I was fortunate to participate in the entire process of the installation and debugging of 4 TAW8800-20/3250 high-voltage explosion-proof synchronous motors. The following is the detailed process I experienced personally.


Application Implementation


Installation and Debugging


Preparations before Installation
After the motors arrived at the site, our technical team immediately started to work. The first step was a comprehensive inspection to confirm that the motors were not damaged during transportation. Then, we held a technical meeting to discuss in detail each step of the installation process, precautions and possible problems.


Selection of Installation Location
During the installation process, we particularly considered the position, orientation and coordination with other equipment of the motor. This step is very crucial because the position of the motor not only affects its own performance but also the operation efficiency of the entire mining equipment. Finally, we chose a position that was both convenient for operation and could maximize its efficiency for installation.


Installation Process
Due to the large volume and weight of the TAW8800-20/3250 motor, we used professional lifting equipment for handling and positioning. After positioning, we used anchor bolts to firmly fix the motor on the ground to prevent displacement during operation. Subsequently, we carried out the wiring work of the motor and carefully connected each cable according to the wiring diagram to ensure the electrical connection was correct.


Debugging Process
After the installation was completed, we entered the debugging stage. This stage is crucial because it determines whether the motor can perform at its best in actual work. We first set the initial operating parameters according to the technical manual of the motor. Then, through multiple trial runs, the parameters such as rotational speed and torque of the motor were accurately calibrated. During this process, we closely monitored the operating status of the motor to ensure all indicators were within the safe range.


Detailed Process of Performance Testing


Startup Performance Test
After completing the basic installation and debugging, we began the startup performance test. This step aims to ensure that the motor can start quickly under different working conditions. We simulated the cold and hot startup situations and recorded the startup time and current changes during each startup to evaluate its startup performance. The results showed that the motor could start quickly and smoothly, meeting our expected standards.


Continuous Operation Test
Next was the continuous operation test. The purpose of this step was to verify the stability of the motor under long-term high-load operation. We let the motor run continuously for several hours on the simulated production line and monitored its operating indicators such as temperature, current and voltage. The test results showed that the motor operated stably under high load without overheating or other abnormal conditions.


Explosion-proof Performance Test
Finally, we conducted the explosion-proof performance test. This is the most critical of all tests because there are flammable and explosive gases in the coal mining environment, and the explosion-proof performance of the motor is directly related to production safety. We conducted multiple tests in a simulated high-risk environment, paying particular attention to the performance of the motor under extreme conditions. The results showed that these motors could operate safely in a high-risk environment without generating any sparks or overheating phenomena, and the explosion-proof performance was fully up to standard.


Effect Display
After all tests were completed and confirmed to be correct, these 4 TAW8800-20/3250 high-voltage explosion-proof synchronous motors were officially put into use in Shenhua Group's production line. As expected, they significantly improved the working efficiency of the mining equipment and greatly enhanced the safety of the work site. The efficient operation of the motor significantly reduced energy consumption, and its excellent explosion-proof performance ensured the safety during the coal mining process and effectively reduced the risk of accidents.
As part of the project, I am very proud. Seeing these motors operate stably and ensure the continuity and safety of production, I deeply feel the important role of high-voltage explosion-proof synchronous motors in modern coal mining. This successful installation and debugging not only provided a strong guarantee for the production efficiency and safety of Shenhua Group but also accumulated valuable experience for our team.


Since the 4 TAW8800-20/3250 high-voltage explosion-proof synchronous motors were put into use in Shenhua Group, they not only effectively improved the working efficiency of the mining equipment but also greatly enhanced the safety of the work site.
